Movie Theater Chains

Regal Cinemas was established in 1989 in Knoxville, Tennessee, with Mike Campbell as CEO. Many of these contained a "premium" café and a more upscale look than theaters of the time. By 2001, Regal was overextended like many other chains, and went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It has become the namesake of the theater chains in which it would be merged into the Edwards and United Artists chains. Regal's trademark "roller coaster" would be seen nationwide upon the completion of the merger.
