Movie Theater Chains

Forty-one of the Clearview Cinemas locations were purchased by Ridgefield, Connecticut-based Bow Tie Cinemas. The acquisition, announced on April 29, 2013, makes Bow Tie Cinemas the largest exhibitor in the metropolitan New York area and with 22 U.S. theaters with 177 screens post-acquisition, the eighth largest chain in the nation. The Bow Tie Cinemas chain, founded over 100 years ago by B.S. Moss in the era of street-front Nickelodeons, and now a four generation family-owned company, is also the nation's oldest cinema chain.
